A little introductory bit about what a wonderful, friendly bunch we all are....
Ted first opened the doors of the flower shop in 2002 and since then has not looked back.
It all started with her garden in Broad Chalke in the late1990’s, where she taught herself to grow flowers in a Sarah Raven style cutting garden. From here she produced gorgeous posies and bouquets to give to friends as presents. But it was when her best friend commented that “you should do this for a living” that she decided to get involved in the world of commercial floristry. Courses followed and a part time job in a local flower shop gave her the basics from which she developed her own, distinctive style. Local friends had already started asking her to do flowers for parties and following a commission for a wedding she realised it was time to look for premises. By good fortune the flower shop in Tisbury was closing down, so Ted did her homework .....and the rest is history!
With a background of commercial training with Marks and Spencer’s and then 25years as a nurse, Ted believes that all her life skills have helped her to build the successful business that continues to thrive today.
Since her children have left home Ted and her husband, Nick, have moved much closer to the shop and have become more involved with the local community.
Claire has been Ted’s loyal right hand, woman for the past 6 years. With more experience than most florists put together, there’s not much she doesn’t know about flowers and how to create beautiful designs and arrangements.
Claire started working in a flower shop whilst still at school before going on to a formal training and apprenticeship. Over the years she has worked for a number of well known florists in Wiltshire and Dorset, joining the Ted Martin team as a freelancer in 2008. Ted was so impressed with the quality of her floristry that within weeks she asked her to become a full time member of the team.
Claire has been manageress of TMF since 2011, working alongside Ted in the day to day running of the shop. She also assists with staff training, the flower school, planning for large events and advising brides and customers with specific requirements
Over the years Claire has built a great rapport with many of our regular customers and account holders, getting to know their personal preferences and offering invaluable help with styling and colour choice for their homes.
In recent months Claire has undertaken a complete refurbishment of her flat where she lives with her dog Milly.
